Blackcurrant Vodka
Submitted by Lando"And now a recipe for a drink that puts you on the floor very quickly with minimal drinking required. it takes 3-5 weeks to make so you have to want a long term serious relationship with this one."
Ingredients
1 preserve jar (1 litre size is best)
1 bottle of vodka
as many blackcurrants you can fit in the jar and the same amount again (in place of the sloes)
2 bags of caster sugar
1 cool dark place (warm for faster production, this is not recomended for the best results though)
a small amount of frezer space
Method
1; place as much of the fruit in the jar as possible without squashing it too much.
2; pour in the vodka to the top of the jar and seal the lid.
3; place in a cool dark place for about a week. put the unused fruit in the frezer until required.
4; after a week some room should have appeared in the jar. fill this up with more fruit and vodka. place back in the dark place for a week.
5; after a week some more space should have appeared.
6; pour in some sugar, cram some more fruit in and top up with vodka.
put it back in the dark place.
7; check it after a few days and repeat the process until you have used up all the sugar, fruit and vodka.
8; you will have to taste it after all the sugar has disolved to make sure it is not too bitter still. it can happen sometimes if the fruits not really ripe.
9; keep on adding sugar until you have the taste you like.
10; now you have to strain it. its best to do this through some muslin cloth to get all the bitty bits out. once you have strained it you can decant it back into a bottle.
11; serve in a glass without ice (the laws about watering down drinks are there to protect us).
Effects
the liquid should be quite thick and syrupy. when you drink it please do so carefully, the whole time you have been making it it has been fermenting and getting stronger by the day. the last one i made, well i know i had two shots of it i then woke up in the afternoon of the next day with a stinker of a hangover. i hadnt had anything else to drink that night.
