Prawn Again

Cockles, Muscles?

It probably won't be long after you've started drinking in Wallasey that your ears will first be pricked by a faint cry of "Cockles? Muscles?", after initially being dismissed as merely the sound of the wind whistling through a nearby tree, the cry will go up again, and soon after that you will be confronted by a travelling fishmonger called Tony Roberts, selling his wares from his basket under the company name "Prawn Again" (the name alluding to the fact that after being laid off from a company trading in seafood sales, Tony decided to start up again on his own).

If you are a fish-eater you will be more amused by his presence than you would as a fish-avoider, yet you will still most probably not make a purchase on this first encounter as it will seem just a little peculiar. However, once you have become used to hearing "Cockles? Muscles?" while you sup at your drink, you will buy something and you most probably won't look back.

The products are generally served from pre-packed styrofoam containers, with a fork and some vinegar. As well as praws, cockles, muscles & the much-loved seafood platter, Tony also sells pepperamis (for the fish-avoiders). The prices are great and the convenience just can't be beaten.

Of all the Wallasean institutions, Prawn Again's mobile fish sales are perhaps the closest to the heart of all pub-goers.
