(5) Egremont
A very strange little place this. Egremont is more "v" shaped than on the map, and is essentially comprised of little bits of what one would think were Liscard, New Brighton and Seacombe (Dipso Dom's brother "Nicky Noodles" refers to this state as "Little Seacombe").Egremont used to have its own Ferry terminal, which begs the question: "Why was Egremont important enough to warrant access to such a mass transit system?" the answer to which may never be known.
Egremont used to have a cinema too. But that closed down when a better one opened in Birkenhead. So, like so many other Wallaseyan states, it is now solely a residential area.
PLACES TO GO
There are a few pubs dotted about. These are mainly of the "old man's loca" type of establishment, but are definitely worth visiting, even if the visit is never repeated.
The Egremont Ferry is a must on a sunny weekday (when the kids are in school). It is right on the front, and commands a superb view of the Mersey.
