(6) Poulton
Like Egremont this is an area that doesn't seem to need to exist. It comprises parts of land that could just as easily be labelled Wallasey Village, Liscard and Seacombe. However, it does exist, so it needs a page of comment.Poulton is largely residential, with pubs in extremely short supply. It features the back-end of Central Park to one side, and "Wallasey Pool" (the name of the water that separates Wallasey from Birkenhead) to the opposite side, so it is clear to see how it became its own state, from a geographical perspective (or should that be "from a topographical perspective"?). The area itself surrounds one main road (cunningly labelled "Poulton Road" to fool the Nazis) that features a lot of run-down shops, and grown men walking around wearing baseball caps, drinking warm "super-strength" lager from the can. If you ever need to go to Poulton, just go to the Pool Inn which is technically in Poulton, but only about 3 seconds' walk away from either Liscard or Wallasey Village.
PLACES TO GO
I think that's just been covered above.
